International Conference “Sericulture Challenges in the 21 st Century” (Serichal 2007), & the 3 rd BACSA meeting will be held in Vratza , Bulgaria from 18 to 21 September 2007 . The Bulgarian National Centre of Agricultural Sciences, Sericulture Experiment Station (SES), Vratza is hosting the meeting in collaboration with The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Black, Caspian Seas and Central Asia Silk Association (BACSA).
The conference and BACSA meeting have the following topics:
The Serichal 2007 is open to all those involved and interested in sericulture industry - sericulturists, agricultural and industrial producers of cocoon and silk, administrators, developers, entrepreneurs, traders, and scientists and technicians, working in each step or link of production and trade chains for cocoon, silk and silk commodities.
Science and technology papers are invited to be presented in the field of mulberry and non-mulberry silkworms, cocoon and silk production, pathology, breeding and bacology, post-cocoon technologies, silk enterprise and trade. Exhibition sessions will also be organized for equipment/tools and silk products.

Call for papers
Participants who wish to present a paper are invited to submit an abstract first. The abstracts must be written in English and sent to Dr P. Tzenov by the e-mail, with the Abstract Submission Form. The conference proceedings will be published as an electronic publication through uploading them at the BACSA web site.
Closing for abstract submission: 1 August 2007
Papers: In formats of A4, single line, Times New Roman, font 12, the text not exceeding 10 pages (tables and figures included), in English; MS-Word file (s) e-mail-attached.
Deadline for the paper submission: No later than 1 September 2007

Town as the mountain - ancient and young!
Only 116 km away from Sofia , at an altitude of 370 m - the town of Vratza is one of the most picturesque cities in Bulgaria . Nestling in the foothills of " Vraza mountain ", with the Leva river calmly crossing the town and with fearful rocks overhanging the roofs. Few Bulgarian cities have a history passing through thousands of years and several historical ages! Vratza is one of them. The second half of September is considered as early autumn season in Bulgaria . Average day temperature range usually 15 - 25 o C.

Travel: The foreign conference participants may take flight/train/bus to the Bulgarian capital, Sofia , where the Sericulture Experiment Station, Vratza will arrange their meeting at the airport/railway or bus station and transportation to Vratza and back.
